Contemporary experimental pianist

 

Lluïsa Espigolé is intensively engaged in contemporary experimental music. Her activity is currently focused on the performance and premieres as a soloist, chamber musician, ensembles and increasingly in interdisciplinary projects, sound performance and free improvisation.  

Lluïsa Espigolé is an artist of great creativity and rigor, communicative, dedicated and able to connect when the audience strips away their prejudices and allows themselves to be enchanted by the talent and magic of a virtuoso pianist of great honesty who holds a truthful technique.

 

She has been trained under Yukiko Sugawara, Nicolas Hodges, Florent Boffard and Florian Hölscher and has worked together with composers such as Peter Ablinger, Helmut Lachenmann, or Marco Stroppa, and is chosen by the majority of her generation to perform and premiere their works as a soloist and in ensembles, one of her main activities. She collaborates with interdisciplinary and free improvisation projects with performers, improvisers and multimedia artists from the experimental scene.

 

She has performed at renowned festivals in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Iceland, Luxembourg, Hungary, Spain and Catalonia and is a member of prestigious ensembles there, such as CrossingLines and Funktion, and from all over Europe, such as Adapter, Ensemble Ascolta, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Linea or Plus Minus Ensemble, in addition to playing with symphony orchestras from Germany, Luxembourg and Catalonia. She is co-artistic director of Difraccions · Xarxa de Músiques Inusuals Arreu del Territori and develops interesting educational activities focused on the repertoire of the 20th and 21st centuries and multimedia.
